Meet your hosts:
Head Chef - Adél Hughes
Chef Adél Hughes' culinary journey is deeply influenced by her time in South Africa’s coastal towns, particularly Paternoster, where she led a small bistro. Her menus were a testament to her connection with the land and sea, often featuring ingredients she foraged herself from nearby beaches.
Adél’s passion for showcasing local flavours grew stronger during her years living in the Strandveld, where daily foraging walks with her dog Max inspired her creativity. At Seebamboes, Adél continues this tradition, crafting dishes that reflect her love for the Western Cape’s natural abundance.

FOH Manager - Liebet Jooste
Liebet Jooste brings a unique artistic perspective to Seebamboes. A painter, illustrator and storyteller, she stumbled into the world of hospitality and found her calling in the interplay of food and wine.
Together with Adél, Liebet curates a dynamic wine list featuring local varietals that complement their inventive tasting menu. Her curiosity about the wonders of nature, love of storytelling, and keen eye for detail shine through in Seebamboes’s warm, coastal-inspired ambiance, which reflects the couple’s shared journey: from a tiny, magical farmhouse in the Strandveld to Cape Town’s vibrant culinary scene.

Galjoen
Galjoen is a South African sustainably-sourced seafood restaurant. We serve a tasting menu where we showcase the beautiful seafood our country has on offer.
What makes us sustainable? Sustainability can mean different things to different people. Our approach is to serve only what is responsibly caught locally. If it’s not from South Africa, it’s not going on the menu.
